What is the Parousia?

This is the second in an end-time series by Dr. Sproul on the last days. What is the kingdom of God? Is it mainly about social issues, or is it something supernatural? What is the Parousia? In this message, R.C. Sproul warns against unbiblical views of God’s kingdom.

While most of us are conditioned to think of the Second Coming as the beginning of our escape or rapture from the world, nothing could have been further from St. Paul’s mind. Based on the Jewish hope of the Creator-God setting His world right, and the 1st-century context of Caesar as a returning king visiting his colonies, esteemed theologian N. T. Wright re-reads Paul’s words with fresh power and insight.

When will the Rapture happen?

This is the eleventh message in a series of end-times teaching by Dr. Sproul on the last days. What is the Rapture? Christians all agree that Jesus will return to take His church out of this fallen world, but there is disagreement as to how He will do it. Will Jesus secretly take His people out of this world only to return again later for the Resurrection? Dr. Sproul considers this question as he continues the study of The Last Days According to Jesus, with this message entitled “The Rapture.”

Admittedly, the resurrection of the dead can be a hard doctrine to swallow. For many, the closest cultural images of resurrection are a collection of competing near death experiences (NDEs; resuscitations, really), a handful of bad B-movie horror flicks, some fallen TV shows and a dark music video from the early 1980’s. But what does the Bible teach us about the resurrection of the body? When will the resurrection take place? What is this rapture we keep hearing about? And when will the rapture happen? We tackle these questions and more in this lesson of the Prophecy Course.

What Does the Bible Teach about the Rapture?

Pastor Bryan Wolfmueller asks and answers, “Is the rapture taught in the Bible? What is Paul teaching in 1 Corinthians 15:51 and 1 Thessalonians 4:13? What does it mean to be left behind?”
